Between stepping onto the ship of the Guardians, and the next step, Thor was abducted into another world, and rendered amnesiac, given a new life and wiped of his old one. He was forced to live this new life, with no clue who he was, until one day he started to dream. For some reason, Orange County on this Earth was full of people from different universes, including his own. He liked it, and settled into it while recuperating from an injury, but in the next few weeks, everything changed. He began to dream. And in his dreams, he saw his former life. It was as if new to him, but with each dream, more of his memories and more of his powers returned, until finally, he was restored to himself, made whole as Thor Odinson the god of thunder.
But it did not end there. He also dreamed of another world, one where he had also been Thor, and of the life he lived there. Those memories too became part of him, and he found himself living a life between three worlds, unsure of which was quite real and which was false.
He grew close to Natasha Romanoff in this world, and they married, and he found in marriage that he was growing quite content with the world he was in. He missed some of the adventures of his other lives, but Orange County had plenty, with Alien Invasions, body swaps, and more. It all made him feel alive, and like he had found home.
But eventually, one of the battles led to him falling into a coma, and he stayed in that coma for a very long time, long enough for all he had known, and all he had experienced to be long past, long enough for him to be moved to a hospice care facility and mostly forgotten.

Thor was born to a wealthy and powerful family, and expected to be great at things. early on, he found his joy in his siblings Loki and Hela. when both were denied him, he buried himself apparently in football, but secretly became quite good at Astronomy and Theater, until the day he graduated and moved out of the house, telling his father, and leaving to pursue those. He kept Astronomy a secret, making it his delight, the thing that no one else shared with him, but became a prolific, if not very popular theater actor.
He slowly found a few tertiary roles in movies and television, until a chance meeting with a director gave him a secondary role on a hit television show. This lasted several years and introduced him to the woman who would becomes his wife, Natasha Romanoff.
Several years later, he moved to Orange County to be more in the area of Hollywood, and began hearing rumors of people who dreamed that they were fictional beings, and more, started gaining memories and powers from those people. Then, one random evening, on the way home from filming for a bit part in a summer blockbuster, he saved a couple of strangers from a giant robot, and was entombed in his SUV under it, and thousands of pounds of rock. He sank into a coma and dreamed of Thor Odinson, the strange alien godling who fell to Earth.
When he awoke two weeks later, he was a foot taller, and could bend steel in his bare hands, as well as lift a suddenly-having appeared Mjolnir. And from there, things got really weird. he reconnected with Natasha, they got married, there were alien invasions, bodyswaps, parts of Orange County became Wonderland, and the like. Along the way, be found his Dreams continuing and his powers growing, as he dreamed of a second life, then a third, in which he was an actual Norse god named Thor.
Eventually, during one battle, he fell into a coma again, and he did not come out of it. Instead, he dreamed, and he stayed in his coma in a private facility for centuries, aware of what happened around him, but unable to interact with others. He dreamed, his old dreams and dreams of his life on this world circling in his mind over and over.
As a result of the life in this world and of his dreams, Thor became a mix of who he had been on that world, and who he is in his dreams worlds.
He is more calm, and more careful than his opposites, and has learned to temper duty with life's needs, including romance and fun. Not just crazy fun, but the kind you can have with your clothes on.
He still has pride, both in the accomplishments on that Earth and in his other selves' accomplishments, and he fights against it, working to be fair, and kind, and not let it rule his head.
